A reflection on lost photos, lasting memories, and the wisdom gathered from traveling through every country in South America.

What Losing My Hard Drive Taught Me About Travel

I lost my hard drive, and I still cannot recover all the images. It is frustrating to think about the photos that may be gone forever, especially because so many of them were connected to travel, places, and memories I value deeply.
But losing those images also reminded me why travel matters to me in the first place. The photos were important, but the experiences were even more important. I still carry the moments, the lessons, and the perspective I gained along the way.
I have visited every country in South America, and that journey shaped the way I see the world. Each country taught me something different about patience, curiosity, connection, and being open to the unexpected.
鉂わ笍. Even without every image, I still want to share the wisdom I gathered from traveling. Travel is not only about collecting photos. It is about learning how to move through the world with respect, paying attention to people and places, and letting each experience change you in some way.
This is the beginning of sharing those lessons: what I learned, what I wish I had known earlier, and why the memories still matter even when the files are gone.
