The clean startup story says to test demand before building. That is not what I did with Spark.

The smaller experiment I would run now

  1. Choose one narrow problem people already mention.
  2. Offer one simple solution manually.
  3. Invite a small group instead of trying to reach everyone.
  4. Watch what people use, ignore, request, and contribute.
  5. Repeat the part that creates the strongest response.

Measure behavior, not only sign-ups

  • Do they invite someone?
  • Do they add progress updates?
